Election Official Dismisses EVM Hacking Allegations: `Standalone Device, No OTP Required`
Sunday, 16 June 2024 () A Mumbai newspaper reported that a relative of Shiv Sena leader Ravindra Waikar used a mobile phone inside a counting center to generate an OTP to unlock an EVM, which the Returning Officer denied, clarifying that EVMs don't require OTPs and have no wireless capabilities. A criminal case has been filed, and investigations are ongoing regarding unauthorized mobile use at the counting center.
